Godiva, Laura Secord and Purdy’s are amongst the three leading chocolatiers. They all maintain a strong brand loyalty as they were all founded in the early 1900’s and have expanded significantly since their creation. Godiva, the Belgian founded chocolatier has expanded throughout the world to 450-plus boutique stores and in 2007, Godiva had annual sales of approximately $500 million. As Godiva is the most expensive of the three, we could assume that it would generally appeal to a mid to high-income public. On the other hand, Laura Secord is a Canadian founded chocolatier and the nation’s largest and best-known chocolatier with over 400 products. With over 120 stores across the country, Laura Secord appeals to all ages as they provide specific products for all demographics; children, middle-aged and senior publics. Lastly, Purdy’s is a Canadian established confectioner and was first founded in 1907 in Vancouver, before both Laura Secord and Godiva. It has now expanded by 57 stores nation-wide.
Just think about it. Chocolate can be consumed at virtually any time of the day- it is always appropriate and always enjoyable. And the best part about it is that there's enough out there to satisfy everyone's appetite.
The world of chocolate is endless- turn it into a form of art just like the product connoisseurs and successful
chocolatiers do.
